5] VISIT TO FATEHPUR SIKRI.

DAY - 5(24th Nov)

We reached Fatehpur Sikri at 4 PM. It is approx. 65 kms from Mathura, 35 km from Agra and 25 kms from Bharatpur. Fatehpur and Sikri are different monuments. Fatehpur is a religious place and Sikri is a palace. Private vehicles are not allowed in the monument. So, we have to park them in the parking. After that, a bus picks us up and takes us to Sikri. There are different tickets for entering monuments and travelling in bus. First, we explored Sikri and then Fatehpur.

1) Sikri - 

It is a palace made by Mughal Emperor Akbar. This palace contains Diwan-E-Am, Diwan-E-Khas, Akbar's Palace, Palace of Jodha bai, Anup Talao, Panch Mahal, Hawa Mahal etc. Diwan-E-Am is the hall of public audience and Diwan-E-Khas is hall of private audience. Diwan-E-Am is like Parliament were Akbar used to sit with his 9 advisors for meeting. Akbar also created a new religion "Din-i-Ilahi" which was symbolised in making of Sikri. Anup Talao is a place where Tansen used to sit and entertain Akbar and his 3 queens. A few songs of movie Pardes(Shah Rukh Khan, Mahima) is also shot here.

2) Fatehpur - 

It is a religious place where mosque and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti is there. Buland Darwaza and Jami Masjid is there. Buland Darwaza is the highest and grandest gateway in India and ranks among the biggest in the world.

All the sight seeing was completed at 6 PM. From there, we went to Agra as our train was from Agra Cantt railway station. We reached station by 8 PM. Our train was on 10 PM. We reached Ahmedabad on the next day. It takes approx. 16 hrs to reach Ahmedabad from Agra.
